PRESERVING THE HISTORY OF THE RADIO SHACK VIDEOTEX & ALL THINGS RELATED
The AgVision Videotex Terminal was manufactured by Tandy, at the request of ELANCO (previously known as Eli Lilly and Company). ELANCO provided the terminal free of charge to farmers who made bulk purchases of TREFLAN weed killer.
Other than the unique blue case and branded badge, the system functions exactly as the Radio Shack Videotex terminal.
This AgVision is S/N 000825 and came from the estate of a soybean farmer in Arkansas.
Elanco had several marketing/promotional items to ensure farmers knew about Treflan.
Presumably their intent was to get the brand name out there, and then offer the AgVision as a free item for those high-dollar sales. Below are a few of their marketing items.
Part of the marketing for Treflan, was that it was designed to work as a weed killer in either wet or dry conditions. This promo coin helped to convey that message.

This was another rebranded version of the Radio Shack Videotex, for a different vendor who offered online subscription services to farmers. (Photo from FB CoCo Group)

It's believed that at least 2,000 ELANCO AgVision terminals were distributed. This is our list of known systems based on Serial # and location.
